As for this instinct language thing, as a child grows up and their brain develops, there if only a shortish time in childhood for the brain to learn language, I think it’s between the ages of 1 to 8 (around that anyway).

The brain MUST have stimulus to grow – thus if the parent does not talk to the child and teach it, the brain will not develop and the child will not learn language. Alas, the child will not learn language out of instinct…although basic attempts at communication will prob take place.

In a few of the recent cases where children have been found, literally kept in a room for years with no stimulation from their parents, they have been unable to learn language because the brain has stopped growing – it was not stimulated at an early age.

Once the child gets to around 10 or 11 it’s too late.

Who’s to say that this is not the case for some of the board’s clientele? Thus the dumb thread?
