    safe mode - admin password

i've been having issues with my works laptop lately, some malware causing bother using internet explorer re-directing me to various search engine sites, advertising sites etc.

i've spoken to the IT department at my place a couple of times, who are based down in manchester, and after a few half arsed 'attempts' at trying to solve it (i.e. running fuckin symantec and one malware scanner) they asked me to send it down to them so they could look into it

the last time i done this they had it over a week, formatted the hard-drive and i lost a few things. they're shit.

so tonight i thought fuck it i'm going to do a bit research on good old google, i found a few forums with some threads on the issue i was having, bingo, seems to be sorted. just need to re-boot in safe mode and do a few more scans, make sure everythings in order...come to enter the admin username and password (provided by our IT bods) and it doesn't fuckin work.

unless i can find a solution to this n get logged back on by mid-morning i'll have no option to send it down to those numpties and probably not see it again until next week.

i'm in the process of downloading some windows password cracker, which i'm a bit reluctant to use but since i've got no other ideas i might resort to it.

are there any other ways of getting back into the laptop so i can disable safe mode? is there anything in the boot proceure i can do to reset passwords?

any help would be much appreciated so i don't have to sit around with my finger up my arse for a week waiting for our IT 'specialists' to do what i could do if they would send me the boot disc

    cheers

disable safemode? what do you mean? you can't disable safemode. Safemode is just the basic operating system without loading any drivers and it enables the hidden admin account.

ok my wording was wrong, to me being able to log in, go into msconfig and put back into normal start up mode is disabling safe mode :D

it's ok, got it sorted in the end, i booted from the optical drive with the crack ophcrack iso, it found the admin password straight away, jobs a good'n

    thanks anyways
