I think its such a shame that prices are so high, means alot of ppl around our age wont be able to get anything half decent. :( Unless they hav rich mammies and daddies of course  Im hoping itll go down over the nxt few yrs, at which point Ill be ready to move out. :D

Its crazy tho, my mam bought our house afew yrs ago for £16k. Average 3 bedroomed council house. Now houses the same in our street are going for around £85k. WOOP WOOP!! :D

I bought my hosue about 6 month ago...when the house prices werent at the peak they were high but not that bad. Its a 2 bedroom terrace..fairly big. I bought it for 83k and now its vauled at 110k thats in 6 month and I aint done that much to it just put laminate flooring in and a fire palce not loads just the little things count thou!

I think the house prices are shocking! I work in the construction industry and to buy a 2 bed detacched now in an okay location your looking at 240K Shokcing considerign my Mam and Dad bought there house 16 Yr ago a 4 bedroom semi for 40k and its valued at 195k now!

The mortgages are worse I pay a fortune for mine! Luckly for me well in a way my Gran died (thats not why IM lucky) but she left me a sum of money which I put down on the house and that reduced my mortgage payments! but id rather hav her a live than gone!

Its all very well thinking you have made all this money due to your house increase but the fact is property money isn't "real money" unless you sell and buy a caravan or leave the country. Whatever money that you make on your overpriced house you will have to spend on yet another overpriced house.

Re: i've just had me house valued!!!

    Dont mean to add more negativity, but . . . . .

If u paid £30k for a house 5 years ago, and its now worth £32k, then u havent made "a shitload of money". You have made 2 grand. But, in fact you havent even made that. I dont know have the figures, but the average house must be at least 50% more valuable than it was 5 years ago, if not a lot more. Therefore your £32k now, is worth a lot less than your £30k was 5 years ago.

    :(

I read it that way first as well orbit but I think he means it's increased by 32. Bought it for 30 intially and now it's been valued at 62 almost 50% gain.

I hope that's what he meant. :spangled:
