    Price for me mate.
I still buy the odd vinyl but I had to slow down loads when the twins were born.
I just cain beatport etc every month now and get loads more for my money.
You've made quite a few valid points in here tho mate.
I'd still play and buy vinyl if I could afford to.

Just been into HMV and there was a fair few bits of vinyl?

    Back left of the store

Not anything I really recognised apart from stuff on Buzzin Fly, an old Thomas Banglatar track and a pretty obscure Detroit Techno track by Arne Weineberg that I really dont expect will ever be bought

im sure thats been there for years... haha

having flicked through this thread , some of you (especially vinyl lovers)will be amazed at the fact that HMV used to have a policy to destroy records that were left unsold for so long...rather than waste space storing it..

    good thread anyway hahaha

it did my tits in when I did vinyl at gateshead, we were forced to order in stuff that was in the 3 for £10 campaign even though it was months old and noone was going to buy it...

I lost count of the number of times we argued the toss with the area management to try and change the charting policy and feature more upfront/new material, and they simply weren't interested :(

I hated watching the loss prevention guys write off obscelescent stock (this is where they destroyed vinyl that hadn't sold). They'd usually cut em in half with a pair of scissors or smash em off the nearest desk. Bad crack :(

    Too true

    Vinyl sounds better anyway.

£1200 it would cost me to buy 2 cdjs i could spend on records.

Plus is there anywhere you can all get all the old breakbeat hardcore and acid house stuff online most likely not.

I think hate djs who just use loads of effects anyways.

Nights like suono don't even mix that much just play get records at the right time and have one of the best atmospheres in the town.

Poeple should just concentrate on playing good records and having a party.

It not all about trying the devolp the next hawtin cube or other Nathan barly wank.

Hello my name is james and i am availible to Rant about records all day.

or for ¼ of that you could buy a dvs and continue using your existing setup and have the best of both worlds

then with the remainder of the cash, you could replace all them hyperglow t-shirts you have in your wardrobe and join us in the new millennium :)

Mate i am so oldschool i have all the original rave fluro clothes from the first time round so my wardrobe is bang up to date blud. Nu-Rave Style.

Stussy never goes out of style.

    What a Dvs

serato interests me as i can switch between records and digital tracks.

But again i would have to buy a laptop just to store all the tracks.

lets face it i can rave a room just with vinyl and i have no interest in being in the dj mag top 1oo by doing loads of tricks.

Want a new mixer before i think about anything else and i can still find great records. Sometimes as well its the b sides that do the damage.

i have clothes from back then too, but thats just because im poor.

a dvs is a digital vinyl solution

i use serato, it was a really easy transition, and i can still use all the thousands of records i have in here (i still collect them myself)

storage is really cheap now - 25 quid for 80 gig = 80 gig is about 10,000 hi quality songs and a laptop can be picked up for next to nowt (serato needs very little power to run efficiently)

the majority of dj mag top 100 djs dont know what tricks are

with digital you only buy the b-side you like, instead of the entire ep where the other 3 tracks are garbage

Your not buying the right eps:wink:

Serato is the route i would go down but only when i can not get good music on vinyl.

Sorry i am a luddite and just love having records.

i hear what you're saying - it sounds like you love the idea of collecting/digging just as much as the music side :)
