playstation 2 is best and i think only the ps2 can be chipped

It depends what for.

Graphically and performance-wise, the GameCube competes with, and is probably better, than both the X Box and PS2.
Plus, Capcom sold all their rights to Nintendo, which means that all new titles such as Resident Evil will be released exclusively to the gamecube.

i Personally think the xbox is the best, even tho i have a PS2. the xbox is considerably more powerful than both the PS2 and game cube (its spec is more than double that of both the PS2 an GC) it has a broadband modem built in, as well as a Hard Disk drive (may not sound too important, but there are plans for both the ps2 and the GC to release modem/HD addons (at extra cost)) it plays DVD's, to counter the capcom deal they have a exclusive deal with konami, they also own bungie, the company behind halo (play this game - all other games pale in comparision to this IMO) and it quite simply offers the best value for money for what you are getting - the GC may be cheaper, but the hardware you get for your cash from the xbox makes PS2 and GC look like a rip off.

And even tho PS2 may out sell it, i wouldnt count on it dieing out - with the huge financial backing of Microsoft, Xbox is the way forward

Buy an xbox package (with jet set radio n sega gt 2002) and buy Halo as well - will be about £200... you wont be dissapointed

It certainly can, I got mine done for £50, even got 4 month warrenty too!

I do think the X-Box is the best, the PS2 started strongly but everyone seems to be going for the X-Box now!

I'd not bet against Microsoft achieving world domination in consoles, even against Sony. The X-Box didn't do as well as hoped, but MS are pouring more money behind it, and will ensure that is succeeds. MS have NEVER failed at this before.

I think they reckon the humble games console will evolve into the hub of almost all home-entertainment, and they want thier box there, not Sony's

Spec is great too, about a top spec PC from 18months ago (i.e. still fast as fuck) and looks better than a PS2

Not sure about PS2 but X-Box has its own, super dooper fast, servers, almost a mini internet apparently. The box already has an ADSL modem so ya don't have to buy one, only prob is chipped consoles can't use the service (apparently) but i'm sure someone will get around that before too long!

XBOX has a service called XBOX Live! - its just gone live like, this week or something - to use the service u will need to buy an adapter pack - consisting of a headset (to chat during games) the software and a unique code (i think there is sum other goodie in there as well)

the cost is £40 per year for the service, (the price of the pack) however to use the service, you must have a broadband ISP - so u pay them for the line.

and finishing the discussion as to which console is best in the online field, XBOX leads the field - it has a inbuilt broadband modem, and its service has just gone live - to do the same on PS2 or GC, u will need to buy the modem (not out yet) and for best use u will need to buy the HD drives for them (also not out yet) wheras all that hardware is already built into XBOX.
