    Free anti virus programs

Just had a not from AVG saying after 25th June there will be no more updates and you will need to subscribe if you want them.

Can anyone recommend any other good, FREE anti virus programs that they use?

however, i reckon avg will still be a free download, it'll not cost to register, they just want to have your email address for the figures

its the same carry on with avast, free for 30 days then you have to register to continue using - its free to register

zonealarm or tiny personal firewall will do the job.

Usually if you're behind a router you won't need a firewall.

it was probably the keygen that was the virus.

Delete the zip file, empty the recycle bin, turn off system restore then try this : http://vil.nai.com/VIL/stinger/

it's the McAfee Stinger - a stand alone trojan remover. Run it.

THEN get Avast from it's home page (not some dodgy torrent), install, update it and run a full scan.

THEN, have a work thru Dodgy's Guide : http://www.nucastle.co.uk/showthread.php?s=&threadid=42203 starting at where he says When The Shit Hits the Fan and the Poo Goes Flying
