    western digital make good drives

if you're buying to have a portable solution, i would definitely go with a wd - i have a passport which has been great. i also have a raptor which is fast but a bit noisy, and i've installed a 2.5 in my laptop which is nice and fast as well as quiet

if you're buying it just to sit on the desk, i would look at the samsung f1 1tb and just install it in to the machine (providing you're using a desktop system)

the 1tb samsung is faster due to the 3 platter system it uses, it also comes with 32meg cache. i have one of these as well and its really quiet compared to the raptor

a separate hdd enclosure works well if you want to keep a load of drives and just hot swap them, utilizing the sata interface - i do that myself to save opening the case and changing around all the time

    hope that helps :)
