rossy you would defo benefit for the upgrade to 10mb for £5

Your broadband is effectively free at the moment on that package.

Yeah but it's still got a 1gig limit! I know for a fact I've rinsed that this past month, just going to get a different provider.

rossy with the 10meg you get a 10gig download limit

lee, which router do you have now? give me your account number il get a new one sorted for ya!

also you can use different router and dongle's but fuck knows how you do it. sky wont touch it if anything goes wrong either! the black netgear/sagem phase 2 routers are not to bad though!

^ to be fair thats still probs not enough for Rossy - I'd imagine he'd be safer on 30gig+ or "unlimited" which can mean 40-60 gig 'fair usage'

i only found out last year that there weren't any 'true' unlimited services on ADSL - i dunno if that changed more recently.. BE claimed to be unlimited and even they weren't 'truely' when i last checked.

you could get away with going over it for 1 or 2 months - if you're with a good service provider they wrote you a letter, if you were with a rubbish one they capped your downloads or slowed your connection.

I do a no-contract offer for upto 24mb download ADSL2 + Line Rental + calls package for £24.99 per month with free wireless router + 'unlimited' (60gb fair usage)

or £19.99 for 24mb ADSL2 connection, 40gb limit + Line Rental and calls + free 4 port wired router .

This is only to LLU exchanges (upgrades which occurred in most areas in recent years).

You can check if you are capable of getting it here.

If 40-60gb was 'unlimited' fair usage then sky would have sacked me off years ago, unless you mean daily and not monthly :p

Actually i've just done some reading up of some up to date stuff on Sky - if you're on an unlimited sky package you're unlikely to get hit by anything as of a year ago after I left them - they're canny leniant on FUPs these days.

you're being traffic shaped by virgin. http://allyours.virginmedia.com/html/internet/traffic.html

while it is an unlimited download service, once you hit the download limit for the day, you get throttled for a few hours.

Still, even with the throttling, cable broadband is a much better service than ADSL over dodgy old copper phonelines.
