its a real problem for me, I can if Israel stamp a piece of paper instead of my passport... but because of my surname I might not get in anyway.

If you want to understand the jewish/arab conflict wander round the Jewish and arab quarters and see the vast cultural differences. It's not surprising they don't understand each other.
When I was there it snowed

well i'm starting in jordan traveling down through wb, palestine (visiting all the old christian sites and if possible some of the less hostile communities), then through Israel to see the history & current cultures, then to J-lam to look@ neighbourhoods/houses. then through the negev to egypt, then back through israel to jordan (steering clear of the gaza strip), then spend a week living with a beduin tribe in their tent (sharing with their goat) then up to the north to do syria (if they let me in, to visit historical sites) if they dont let me in I'll go to lebanon to look at the women

would love to do iran but I've been told I'll never get in.

I'm guessing you've never seen the jewish quarter... J-lam is home to israels large haredi communities who live in massive poverty.

there is little difference between the two neighbourhoods... dont buy into the pallywood lies.

are you allowed to go on the temple mount where the mosque is? that building and its surroundings is the most beautiful place I have ever been.
As I climbed the stair and the blue mosque came into view the guy on the minaret started with the 'allah aqbar' (sp?) and I had a spiritual moment :D
It didn't last for long though cos then I got told off for eating a bun :(

I was there for a week. I'm talking about the old city. the new one looks like newcastle.
the jewish quarter was all done up immaculately with litter free public spaces and clean fooderies and the arab quarter was chaotic, dirty and full of mad life.
I must admit I liked the arab bits better

You can only compare like with like, east jerusalem is the majority old town.... when you move out of that on the otherside you leave Israel and move into the westbank.... Which is a different economic region and there's bound to be different economic conditions as Israel is a wealthy nation and Palestine is not.

Jerusalems arabs fair as well as their jewish equivelants.

then let them go to the westbank... most israeli arabs wouldn't move ot the westbank if you paid them... they have reaped the rewards of israeli society.

I suggest you speak to an israeli arab and ask him about his career and education, then ask him if he'd trade it all in for a life in the west bank.

few will say yes.... I have many israeli arabs friends.
