Venetian Snares - Egypt Cottage 3/10/03 - Update no-fi presents... friday 3 october VENETIAN SNARES (planet mu) | ASHFELT (iris light) | JAZZFINGER SOUND SYSTEM 8:00 -12:00 egypt cottage (2 floors) | city road | £5 no-fi's ecstatically-vaunted No-fidelity Series 2003 begins at last and what a way to kick off! Perhaps most famed for his hyperbreakneckbeatbreaking digital contortions and ultrajunglist posturing, Aaron Funk also notably riddles his records with hilarity, perversity and, when the mood takes him, a certain gothic darkness (though make that 'gothic' with a small g). Yep, there'll be jaw-slacking drill and thump, sounds so contorted and fucked-up you won't be able to help laughing out loud - don't forget that his past collaborators include DJ Speedranch and that he's just released an album constructed form the sounds of him and his girlfriend shagging their way 'round Europe. And after the relatively sombre feel of his last Planet Mu outing 'Winter In The Belly of A Snake', his forthcoming full-length on Mike Paradinas' label is said to be his most raucous yet. Support at this show comes from Ashfelt and their full-on cutnbass drumnpaste, and plugging the gaps are the safest hands in sound, Jazzfinger Sound System. Finally, this venue has 2 floors - artists will be situated upstairs and the sound will be relayed at full-pelt throughout the building. We strongly advise you to either get advance tickets from RPM or turn up sharpish (doors 8pm-12:00).
