Need some urgent help and/or advice!!!!!

Had a bit of an accident at the weekend's afters where a cup of coffee was spilled on a laptop
All the keys are workin (altho a bit sticky) but the space bar is having none of it. Any1 know what i can do to fix it or where i can take it to get fixed (and how much its likely to hit me in the wallet?).

    Thanx peeps :D

Nass did that with coke (the drinking kind!). Ask him. Think he took the keyboard apart, wiped it and let it dry. Might b a bit different with a laptop like.

Take it to somewhere like Computer Direct on the Scotswood Road. You're looking at damage of at least £37 to get it fixed tho :(

If you can get a mate who know's what he's doing, all it'll most likely need is cleaned with a bit of soapy water.

There's a company in washington called 'mind machines' that do laptop repair for the uni. they're fairly reasonable...

It's possible to just soak a normal keyboard in a bucket of soapy water to clean it. Definitely not advisable with a laptop tho.

Oasis's hammer idea isn't too far off either - if you tap the space bar with summinck like the handle of a screwdriver, tapping it very gently but very quickly, it might free up the key. (Don't use a hammer :D )

take a photo of your keyboard.

use a screwdriver and try to ply off ONE key that you don't care about.. in case you can't get it back on. with my keyboard this was easy. if that works, take all the keys off, put them in a sink full of water.. let them soak for a while.. drain out the dirty water then do the same with clean water.

Let them dry, for ages, just to be sure no water is getting into your laptop when you put them back in.

ps, it was red bull in mine :D
