thats a fair amount of money. i'm just gonna rent for now coz they reckon the prices are gonna start to fall again in the near future. 20% fall in 18 months is wat i've told by peeps in the know like.

You only get the money when you leave the housing market though

In the next 5 years i'd imagine the north east situation will start to cool off - right now prices are still surging.

Down where i live prices have supposedly stagnated - i keep holding on for a housing market crash in the vain hope i can get a mortgage that doesnt cost us 1000 quid a month :(

Sell up, move home and have a house built now :)

That's my problem. I've made a shed load but will only have to spend it again to get somewhere equally as nice. I suppose I've just managed to jump a few rungs on the property ladder!

Apparently the north east is one of the only areas now where prices are still going up considerably. Hurrah!

Yeah but if you want to buy another one,its going to cost you more than it did a few years ago. If you're not then you've got money to burn

Im in Surrey - quite possibly the worst place for first time buyers :(

For house building its actually worth building one since after the house is completed, you are allowed to claim back all the VAT you spent on materials and have it paid to you in one fat wad of cash... also, the house costs on average 30% lower to build than it would cost to buy a built one - so theres alot of money to be made there.

Unfortunately building plots cost upwards of 500k down here also - lol

I did see a nice house in scotswood for 16 thousand pounds on the web

Sound like a plan, I'd just nip to Godskitchen at the arena on the Saturday and then pop back straight after!
