    Higher Education Bill

The government have jus won the vote 316 - 311 to change the fee structure at uni. So who ever is going to uni from now on will have to pay upto £3000 a year, and tho it wont affect those who are already there it will affect you in the future when your children go to uni!

Closeness of the result also shows how unstable Blair is as PM, as Labour have a 161 majority

they had to do something or else there would be very few HE institutions running by the time our children are at the age when they are thinking about university...

Well it doesn't matter for US. That is, unless you're planning to start uni in 2006, since that's when it's coming into effect.

We're lucky. I start uni this October so I'll finish in Spring 2007 but it will only effect people STARTING their course in 2006.

    Yay :D

I will start my course in 2005 - if i dont take a year out, which now seems like a very bad idea, as if i do i will be starting uni in 2006

Bad luck :( I wasn't planning to take a year out but due to, erm, "insufficient grades" :D I was kinda forced to! It's been pretty crap resitting my A-levels but I'm working full time and saving up £300-£400 a month.

Plus it's given me a chance to rethink working on a summer camp in America and so this year I'm away to the USofA for 9 weeks :D

Gap years rock.....unless it means that you're gonna have MASSIVE debt (well, more than we're gonna have :spangled: )

Blame the scots! They got to vote on the matter when it wont even affect universities in Scotland, yet English MPs cant vote on Scotish matters.
