CRE8 w/ TEVO HOWARD // BLM // + CTRL featuring GERD (in the
    Boudior)

After our last night in November with Fred P and Futureboogie, we've decided to go for an American/ British line-up again with two equally impressive DJ/Producers. We’ve also hooked up with another l
ocal party starter with the lads from CTRL providing the music upstairs in the Boudoir.

    TEVO HOWARD (Beautiful Granville Records)

Tevo was born and raised in Chicago, the birthplace and home of House music. Tevo started to mix from a very early stage; taking advantage of his brother's decks throughout his teenage years and eventually gaining residencies in local clubs all over Chicago by the ripe old age of sixteen.

After studying Music Tech at Uni it wasn't until 2005 that Tevo started to produce his own music. Just two years later he started his Beautiful Granville Imprint, which mainly showcased his own work and was picked up on almost straight away.

Tevo's approach to production is often faithfully old school, especially when it comes to instrumentation and technique. The Chicago native has also been vocal about his preference for the synth-pop and italo disco building blocks of house.

    BLM (Fear of Flying records)

HOUSE has always found a welcoming home in London. The wealth of clubs, venues and party promoters playing host each week to the world's foremost DJ's and artists is testiment to that. With continental European and American talent often dominating the column inches, home-grown labels and producers are sometimes denied the attention they deserve. And it's not because they don’t deliver. Far from it.

British talent generally, not just from the smoke, cuts it with the best when it comes to quality house and techno. A case in point is gifted young producer BLM and his first rate fear of Flying label, which he co owns with long-time pal Jay Massive.

BLM (AKA Ben Mickleworth) came up through the ranks from bedroom DJ at 15, listening to 2-step and garage (he still admits to dropping the occasional 4/4 garage bomb in his sets even now). BLM has been making music since 2004, although it was the launch of the label and his own productions three years ago that sent out a statement of intent. Tracks such as the techy 'Believe in Love’ the sublime ‘Gyms are for Pussies’ and the Balearic-tinged deep house of ‘Oi Pedro’.

BLM's idiosyncratic take on deep, minimal house [whether it be the garage influence clearly evident in his work or the irreverent track titles] is a breath of fresh air from the earnest posturing of many a serious producer.

    Gerd [ 4Lux – Illusion Recordings – Clone ] HOSTED BY CTRL

Few masters of dance music operate at the same high level as in their initial heyday, yet Gert-Jan Bijl is still at the top of his game 22 years in. One could attribute the Dutch DJ & Producer of soul, jazz, hip hop, disco, boogie and house music’s consistency to his relentless pursuit of new sounds and set-ups spread out over more than a dozen monikers and even more collaborative projects. By pushing himself beyond the American influenced aesthetics he started in, Bijl kept his productions fresh for himself and his audiences.

So whether you know his funky disco tunes as Amplified Orchestra, his tougher techno slabs as Literon, the broken beat work with Paulo Delgado as Delgui, or his unique deep-house slates as Gerd on Clone records, your ears have been well taken care of for more than two decades. He is also the proprietor behind 4 Lux, Amplified, Fortek, Lifeworld, and Rize Radical imprints, providing a home for dozens of artists including Alex Agore, Kez YM, Swell Session and his own various projects. Most recently signing with a label to watch in 2012, Illusion Recordings. Gerd is one of THE producers and DJ's of the moment with his productions and sets keeping a real old school house sound that stands head and shoulders above the rest in terms of quality.
