I've been thinking about why Promise was so much better than anything other club night around here & the answer is simple: the crowd.

Everybody knew everyone else, there were very few Knobheads (compared to how Digital became very quickly) & during the week everyone had a bit banter on here. That plus top Dj's/tunes (& maybe the odd bit of Class A  ;) ) was a winning combination. I have pretty much retired from clubbing now, but i reckon if Promise hadn't finished & Foundation hadn't closed, i would still be raving every week now :cool2: :(

I absolutely loved it, the music, the dark club, the people, everything was perfect. Walking through the first doors and hearing the bass, then the doors opening to some dark prog, the best feeling in the world.

I may not have been there when it first started, but from December 2000 i was there every week till it closed 5 years later.

For me it was about the Tulip Prog warm ups, then the Trance the rest of the night.

I wondered why people have been posting videos and pictures on facebook....

    Loving this thread! :)

Promise was my life for canny few years like. I loved every minute of it...the build up to a Friday night, the prog/trance, the dj's, the club its self...but most of all I loved it for the people and the atmosphere. Those days will never come again, but i'm so happy to have had them :king:

to deny it of being one of the great 'trance' nights of all times would be completly ignorant, it was very well known for the prog that it was knocking out, but as far as i've known it has been the best trance night newcastle has EVER seen, with no competition.

dont let your own mind get clouded eh?
