Cant be helped unfortunately, dont mind so much with it being someone genuine like Garnier as you know he must be really ill. As opposed to Dave "I cancel all gigs north of Manchester" Clarke and the likes....

We will still be down after DB, looking forward to it

Also fair play to Scott and the lads for letting everyone know as early as possible, a lot of clubs would have you paying in and a note on the inside of the club saying he wasnt on - which ive seen numerous times over the years

Nice one about announcing it well early, i have been to the best of the clubs in the UK up n down and got there to see the headliner who i have travelled to see from Newcastle has cancelled only to be told that inside and about an hr before.

Good crack about the residents only and the tickets being valid, i am now gonna be able to go in Dec as well :D

Like everyone i was gutted when i got word that Laurent wouldn't be able to make it.
As for your comments thats fair enough mate I but To be fair Laurent Garnier is pretty unique isn't he if I'd tried to mimic him i think i would have just looked like a bit of a twat (even more than normal) I do actually have quite a bit of Techno as it happens and had made an effort to pull quite a bit out in the short time that i had but lets face it when i played Acid Crash (pretty early on in the night) I would say it went over most peoples heads, mainly because the record was released way before most of the shindig crowd of today were born. I tried a few others as well but the best reactions i was getting was from the newer stuff, some of it you could call techno some of is labeled as techno but i wouldn't personally call it that my self.
I guess what im trying to say is that when a guest like that doesn't turn up what are we meant to do give up and not open, we have to get on with it and do what we do to the best of our ability.
im sorry if i don't cut it as a techno purist mate. ha ha.
Im actually surprised you actually came down once you knew Garnier was Ill.

Sorry you didnt enjoy yourself mate.
you should have come said hello as ive not seen you in ages.

ps: last time i heard garnier live was about a year ago and he was pretty hard but it was a big event and he didn't play a long set.
last set i heard was from about 6 months ago and he was playing mainly deep house but i only had a 2 hr download.
He actually plays a lot of of the deeper forensic stuff i release (or so he says in his reactions he emails back)

Ive heard a couple of recent Garnier mixes and he didnt really play much old stuff to be fair, maybe a couple.. maybe more techno ish style than Scott, but not far off what he plays, like Mazi stuff etc...

But yeah done in true Laurent style which as Scott says, you cant really get away with unless your him..

Black out was played also :) .. which got a good reaction.. and energy flash later on, I was watching from edge of dancefloor and was howling at Scotts face when he dropped it (proper rabbit in the headlights)

This post is a tad daft imo, for started Laurent cancelled quite late meaning Scott had to fill the spot on short notice, was scott meant to go out and do research on detroit techno and all other genres overnight and try mimic Garniers style just to please the techno purists?

A few of my mates went anyway and said it was a class night despite the disappointment of Laurent not being able to make it, music and banter were spot on by all accounts....

Im selfishly pleased on the reschedule too, was absolutely gutted at the thought of missing out, roll on December!! :cool2:

Because having one of the best ressies in the country standing in doing a 5hr set wasn't enough? To have him do the night on his own is more than most clubs could provide as back up tbh.

I'm guessing by the time you posted you were possibly worse for wear though??

Surely this is because you never book big names in the first place?

Yoji Biomehanika is a big name with lots of syllables I guess, I'll give you that.

Proteus though? That's a pretty small name, it only has 7 letters in it.
