Dalglish? Gullit? Bobby Robson? Souness? Roeder? Allardyce?

    Souness or Gullit.

Dalglish didnt exactly do well but he was proven elsewhere and think he was given a hard time of it by the board.

Sir Bob turned us round when things looked bad and was unceremoniously ditched after having had us back in the top 4 my only concern with bob of course was his ailing health.

roeder did alright given the circumstances, allardyce tried to turn us into bolton although i don't doubt his methods may have worked with time, it was like watching paint dry.

Souness though, dismantantled a side that had proven they could reach the top 4 with a bit of coaxing, his heavy handed approach lost us some important players and spent the wrong side of 50 million chasing a bottom half finish.

And i just don't know what gullit tried to do, but it wasnt good.

    Percentage of games won:

    Kevin Keegan 54.98%
    Kenny Dalglish 38.46%
    Ruud Gullit 34.61%
    Sir Bobby Robson 46.66%
    Graeme Souness 44.82%
    Glenn Roeder 45.83%
    Sam Allardyce 33.33%

Statistically Allardyce was the worst manager we had (although you could argue that it doesn't mean much as he wasn't given a full season).

For me, Gullit and Dalglish were the worst. Dalglish took a great team and dismantled it, Gullit just played poor football.

Roeder had a bit of a harsh time of it - to be honest he was never given the board's full backing, which is a shame because he managed slightly better than Souness did when you compare the stats.

No surprise that Kev comes out on top from his last stretch at the club though :)

The worst team ever to grace The Premiership took 4 points off Allardyce's Newcastle side, I think that says it all really...

Granted it was only a short period of time that he was with us but the fixture list was kind to Allardyce whilst he was here. That percentage should be a lot higher considering the teams we played up until January.

For me though, Souness is the worst we've had recently. How do you spend £50 million on a team but weaken it at the same time?

aye but his quotes made more than a mens for his win rate...

With the Mackems languishing at the foot of the table, Wilko was famously asked by Garth Crooks on Football Focus whether he felt there are three worse teams in the Premiership than Sunderland. Wilko’s reply was masterly:

[QUOTE[ "I would say relegation is three from four because we are already out of it in my mind. When I look at our fixtures, thankfully they are against teams around us which makes them better fixtures. I believe we are going to get out of it and I am not too bothered who else is going to get out of it. I don't have to think about what relegation would mean to this club because I have been in the business a long time."[/QUOTE]

Leaving Sunderland, Wilko was rightly proud of easily achieving his goal.....
