Hope you're all doing alright. Did any of you get into crypto before the hype? Still going to events? In those err, places of social gathering called "clubs." Hopefully everyone's still alive; I'd love to throw in a laughing emoji but fuck me, things didn't half nose-dive since I last logged in.

Forums were way ahead of their time.

    Fucking hell, someone posted!

Yeah I miss a good forum and this was my favourite.

I never got into Crypto but remember hearing people buying bitcoin and selling them donkeys ago cos it was going nowhere and there were people on this board who would be legit millionaires now if they held the Bitcoin til around 2017 onwards.

I always liked how on here, unlike FB, you can pick up conversations quite easily where you left off. Facebook is useful for me these days (I arrived late to the party and started DJing 10 years ago thanks to Rossy, Conway, Brid, Tom and Jess) but I owe a lot in regards to my taste in music and passion for the scene to the efforts of the people in this forum. FB just self selects what it wants to show people so you have to think through how you write a post to even get a message really out there and it self boosts when people react quickly (or hides it if no one responds soon enough). Algorithm based 'social' media.

I moved to Cyprus 4 years ago and lockdown caused me to really take seriously how to start live streaming and when things opened up in 2021 my DJ career over there became more of a thing. I've just moved back to Newcastle. I bumped into Mad Chris the other day and have started seeing loads of people off this message board at some new events below.

There's a resurgence in people aged 30+ (or way more) going out in the daytime because people are realising one of the reasons they left the scene was simply the cost of being up all night. They still want to see friends and enjoy new music with it not being all about classics.

I was throwing little gatherings around my house originally with just DJs from around 2014 and a few people every few months became 45 people at the last one in 2019 and it had to stop because our deaf neighbour moved on so after leaving it for ages thinking we needed to find another house to do it, we got our heads together about going public and we threw a party at the Telegraph thinking no one would come and then loads did.

This was the start of PROGRESS:ON which I set up with Alan Ruddick, Phil Littledyke and SoapieTW on here. It ended up at The Cut, Worldheadquarters, Archies Lab, Anthony Pappa, Richard Tulip, Scott Bradford, Lexicon Avenue (Chris Scott), Paul Thomas have all played for us and people from here came to all of those.

My friends also do Early Doors Club at WHQ in a similar vein. We had a baby in 2022 which caused us to pause flying back to run those events and eventually got us to move back from Cyprus to here so will start doing these events again now we're settled.

I'm on https://www.facebook.com/Nass86 / https://instagram.com/Nasser.Alazzawi if anyone wants to keep in touch on there and my youtube is https://www.youtube.com/c/NasserAlazzawiTV which has a back log of the live streams I've done from home (plus some from real events). For audio only there's soundcloud.

It was this forum which helped me appreciate things like when an event gave people something to listen back to after it had happened and me and most people in here took joy in replaying their favourite nights so I've always been passionate about doing that now.

Hope you're doing well mate and its nice to see someone post here. I will check back sometimes!

Ps. I saw Conway the other week, he's doing well. I took a photo of his new set up / man cave - I couldn't be happier at what he calls his 'midlife crisis' its the best one I've seen!
