Much as I have very limited faith in the British police on all levels I'm willing to support their action until I hear evidence to the contary.

I agree.

It's unlikely it will have been a flawless operation by the police/airport security etc, but I do think such dramatic action is necessary in these circumstances.

I am curious as to why they are talking about lifting the newly imposed security measures in a few days. Surely if it is a threat, it will be an ongoing one?

If you're referring to the new hand luggage allowances then I couldn't agree more. The amount of 'hand' luggage taken on board by some people is rediculous.

I think they're talking about lfting the threat level from 'critical' because people's attention span is limited and they don't want it to lose its resonance.

True.

I know it not really the topic in question, but personally I think they should take this opportunity to put a few restrictions on what can be classed as hand luggage anyway. I realise people try to carry as much as they can in hand luggage just incase their suitcases end up on the wrong plane or whatever, but sometimes i think people just take the piss.

I couldnt agree more
I fly 2 flights per week and some of the hand luggage people take on the plane is bigger than the bag i check in.
I piss myself when they cant get it in the overhead locker and they stand there all red faced.
It just makes me s fucking

If this was a serious threat, then it's top work by the security services  We're not going to know more till later, but I'd be happy to take the inconvenience if I was flying transatlantic at the moment.

I can see no hand baggage being allowed in future at all, if there are many more of these alerts:(

i'm properly scared i am :( i know thats what they're wanting but jesus!!!!
imagine if it had gone ahead and happened.....
i just feel physically sick, look at the world we're going to be living in for god knows how long.
this is only the beginning, racial hatred is being stirred up into a frenzy in this country and its quite obvious that the children in these families will be brought up to embrace their extremist views, therefore creating more and more islamic terrorists that are british nationals.
god i could cry it bothers me that much.

I've been here since the end of April. Not really worried about it though, it's a massive place so even if there was another attack here, the chances of being involved in it are tiny.
