View Full Version : Robson to quit at end of season!
apparently this is the new rumour coming from a source working close to Robson
apparently Robson did walk out over the rape allegations, but was persuaded to stay till the end of the season.
this is why shearer is being rushed through his UEFA coaching badges, although shearer will not take over straight away, but will shadow a new manager.
the source of this : a builder working on the new house there building for Robson  :p
If Robson does leave then Shearer should be the manager. Let's hope Peter Reid never manages Newcastle.
i would have thought so, i dont think robsons gonna tell a builder all his secret info

If he goes then id want :
Martin O'Neil (altho being a Celtic fan i cant see him leaving the place where his heart and where he's won a hell of alot)
Gordan Strachan (Speaks his mind, is proven at shit teams with no money so why not try him somewhere bigger with ££)
I dont think Shearer would be ready to go straight into management really at the moment, he's proven this season already that he's still one of the best strikers in the county !
Theres not alot of things better than seeing Shearer running away with his hand raised after notching  ;)

Just because Alan is doing his UEFA badge does not mean he should get the job, I mean Andy Griffin is doing it with Alan & Gary Speed. Would you give Griff the job?
Stevie 'WALLSEND LAD' Bruce would be the man for me.
Martin O'Neil the bloke WAS a SUNDERLAND FAN!!
Gordan Strachan is doing well @ that saint but wasnt he the first bloke to send Coventry down in about 30 years of top flight footie.

Yes. But every other Coventry City manager has done the same before him.

Steve Bruce would pick Man Utd over Newcastle United anyday, its a sad thing to say but its where his heart lies isnt it so he wouldnt be coming ere ever i dont think !
Bobby Charlton is the same, he might be from Ashington but its Man Utd that he
You should have bagged Bryan Robson before he went to Bradford...  :p
:D
Id say as Bruce as well.
But lets just say hes got a reputaion for thinking "the other mans grass is greener".
He is a Geordie, so naturally people see Newcastle as the club he is destined to manage. But just say hes been here a couple of years and done pretty well, Alex Ferguson decides to retire, will he jump ship for the club where he spent the best of his playing days?
O'Neill is superb too, Id never heard the Sunderland connection b4 tho?

I'd be surprised if he even goes into the dressing room at half time... everybody knew his favourite past-time at boro was going down the boozer!:D
Pallister - 'a half gaffer?'
Robbo - 'he's only just blown the whistle, we can fit in a pint in 15 minutes!'
:p
I know that Ruud Gullit was a terrible faliure, but he was not an experienced manager by any means. I really think it is time we got a high profile manager in, along the lines of a Cappello time of guy. Someone with high profile as Bobby, loads of European experience, etc. Just remember, not 1 English manager as won the Premiership. We need a Ranaeri, not a Strachan imo!

Either have I :spangled:
I think O'Neil may end up at Liverpool.
Your bigger problem, similar to Celtic and Larsson is replacing Shearer at the end of next season.

Bruce & the Man Utd thing does worry me, but once he came back HOME I am sure he would fall back in love in with his hometown team & city.
Also if Bruce is so in love with MAN UTD why did he let son sign for Blackburn instead of Man Utd? His son is cracking player, scored the winner against Newcastles U17 last season.
Also it was NEWCASTLE UNITED who didnt want Bruce not once, twice but THREE times!!!

I think he is up there with Nobby as the best footballer @ the toon, but has he got the power & the pace for the English game?
The player we bought destroyed England's U21...the player we have now looks poor against Evertons reserves.

Latin players need to feell to loved for them produce
it will be wrong if bobby allows viana to be sold, on the continent everybody can see hes world class, but robson hasnt give him a decent run in the frst team, jenas has started the season very poorly, in my opinion, give hugo a run before he slaps in a transfer request, and is offski
I think Viana could do well if we gave him a central role.
We cant do that playing our current 4-4-2.
If we moved to more what Man Utd play when Scholes is fit, which is basically 4-2-3-1, then i think Viana could do it.
The midfield 2 for me would be Bowyer and Speed.
Then the 3 behind the front man would be Viana in the hole, with Robert to his left and Dyer on his right.
Up front of course is Big Al.
However it works for Man Utd because as well as being talented, everyone works! Robert wont work hard like Giggs and Viana wont work hard like Scholes. Otherwise, my plan would be brilliant. :D
Oh and as soon as he is fit, Bellamy would replace Dyer. :D

and Shearer doesnt have the pace of Ruud or Henry who both thrive on that formation.
CHECK YOUR PMs
Arsenal dont quite play like that though Spence.
And pace isnt essential for the front man. Id say strength, technique and an eye for goal are more essential. He has to also play very much "down the middle".
Shearer would be well suited.
Dont say he would be isolated. The idea is he would have 3 players supporting him.

Arsenal play a variation of it & were the one of the FIRST TEAMs to play this way in the prem.
Vieira & Silva as the 2 deep in front of the defence
Wiltord & Pires wide
Where Wegner differs to Ferige instead of playing an attacking midfielder he plays a deep lying forward Bergkamp/Kanu/Wiltord etc.
Pace & movement by the front man is vital in this formation get a copy of Newcastle 2 Man Utd 6 & watch Ruud in action.

I don't know how any Newcastle fan can say that after what Robson as done for us. The man is still an absolute legend. I take your point on board about him being quite arrogant, but he as still done brilliant for us.
  Hugo Viana - best player?? He cannot beat anyone, he can't tackle, he can pass, but doesn't get enough time in the Premiership to do it, he rarely shoots. So please explain why you would have him in your starting eleven?
This is not a vendeta against you BTW El!! ;) :p

Im sorry Spence, but you are actually wrong. :D
As you correctly say Wenger plays a deep lying striker, rather than an attacking midfielder. This is because Henry uses the full width of the pitch, right and left, and they still have someone central that way when he does go wide.
Arsenals wide midfielders also play much deeper than than Man Utds, making their formation more of a 4-4-2 basically Spence. Thats why Arsenal never quite flood the box like Man Utd. The wide midfielders also come inside a lot, because Henry uses the full width of the pitch.
Its def different to the way Man Utd play theirs. And to get to the point, when done like Man Utd pace is not essential in the striker. Van is quick, and it can never hurt, but he is no Henry for speed.

viana is mint. ive seen it in him. he knows how the game works. unlike lots of our headless chickens. he needs a good run in the first team yes but he will be amazing. he will be a star.
and robson just pisses me off now. i cant understand his tactics most of the time cos they are so fucking shit and bizarre.

The people who are usually in the central position when Henry goes wide are Wiltord,Pires, Ljungberg THE WIDE MEN!
Wiltord,Pires &Ljungberg go deeper than say Giggs?
Arsenal never flood box???? Do they not. The wide midfielders also come inside a lot, so do Arsenals.
The Van is no Henry for pace but then not many people are.

Is what it should of said
Sheaerer COULD definately play at the head of this formation.
As long as there is pace around him, which we can certainly provide. Our only problem is that we dont have a Scholes type player. Dyer couldnt do that. Thats why i suggested Viana.
He might not be able to do that either. But thats the only way i can see to fit him into the team.

Probs not. But i think its worth a try.
Means we dont have to play Lua Lua or Shola 'Im a Nobody'.
Plus Spence, Hartson does it for Wales.
Dont cite thier recent form though. Because it worked (and fantastically so) when Bellamy and Davies were fit.

Hartson does play upfront by himself. But I need to think of how Wales play is it 4231 or is it4321
When everyone was fit in the first half of the qualifiers, they played 4-2-3-1
Savage & Pembridge as defensive midfielders
Giggs Davies and Bellamy as the 3 attacking midfielders.
Big John up top.
It worked, and there was no room for Koumas. Speed played left-back. They beat Italy and Germany, drew with Argentina, and also won in Finland (which England havent done two times in a row).
