    tele's

    gonna be getting one of those big fuckers nearer to christmas, what im after is;

    round the 42" mark
    obviously HD (preferably the 1920 x 1024, but would settle for 1366 x 1024)
ability to display two pictures from differnt sources side by side (pap or pip)
    freeview tuner digital if possible
    more connections than the mafia
really fancy a one with a card reader built in so after ive pilfered stuff from the internet i can just stick it into the tele
    preferably piano black finish

anyone got any ideas or know of any sites where you can put in these type of options

    Ta hew

    Re: tele's

If ya after an LCD HDTV (which i would go for due to plasma heat dissipation and power issues..) then you should really go for the Sony W or V series..

The W iirc supports 1080p.. and is the best set you can get.. however its massively priced.

The V series is the same as the W series but without support for 1080p.

Lots of people will say that Samsung and Toshiba use panels manufactured by Sony.. but the thing is.. the image processing they use in their sets isn't up to the standard of the Sony sets.

I'm just about to get a 32" KDL-32V2000 for ~1.1k. Its gonna be awesome.. its the best 32" model you can buy :)

Also.. buy from John lewis using their pricematching and get a 5 year warrenty thrown in too ;)

Check out AV Forums for some expert(ish) advice :)

    Edit..

Also look out for 1:1 pixel mapping.. its essential for PC use on an LCD TV.

Chandler what is the best 26 inch tv I can get (for under about £600)? You heard much about the new samsungs. I'm sure I read they were a bit of a let down on AVforums but that was weeks ago and the threads about 90 pages long.

If you go Samsung then you must get an R74 model.. they use the Sony panels and offer good image clarity. But.. they suffer from a case of black is not black and their image processing is no where near the Bravia.

I've heard good things about the Toshiba sets too..

I'll have a look round for ya fella :)

    Why the R74?

Is there much difference between a LE26R72BX and a LE26R73BD?

I'm not really arsed about normal TV, just DVD's and I'll probably get a 360 or something. What ports will I need?

    HDMI and possibly dvi.

Get an upscaling dvd player too.. it will upscale the lines on ya dvds so they appear hd :)

The R74 has a better contrast ratio and other fancy filters that basically improve image quality.

From what I hear though the Toshiba Regza 32WLT66 and 32WL66 are good sets.. but are no good for PC stuff..

Samsung LE26R72BX is only £479 online, is there any reason why you wouldn't want to get one if you went in the shop and the picture looked fine?

HDMI/DVI considering I just want to plug a dvd player/x box in?

360 should be plugged in via HDMI..

    DVD could run through scart.

If the pic looked fine to ya then go for it :)

aparently its not possible, the 360 output is analog, so unless they bring out an a/d convertor it won't happen

It annoys me how students can afford to buy stuff like this yet they moan about not having enough money.
