are the cables definitely connected to the input channels and not the output channels on your tv?

my laptop has a hdmi port so i use that then route the sound from the laptop through the hdmi lead.

Nee HDMI port on me PC unfortunately. The audio leads are going from me headphone socket to the input channels as fas as I can see (attached to the wall). Gonna have a proper look tomorrow as there seem to be some other sockets I haven't tried yet.

i had the same issue when i first set mine up like that, after prising it off the wall it turned out id plugged the phono's into a different input from where the vga signal was going to.

you need the mini jack phono cable plugged into your PC OUT then connected to your AMP

Both sound and picture will be pretty 1990's using these methods tho

there's a dvi connection on the pc i use as a media server so got a dvi - hdmi cable off ebay for £3 (were £17 in maplins)...it's made a slight difference but nothing dramatic. is worth the £3 if your pc/laptop has a dvi out.

won't help your audio problems mind.
