    is it ok to...

    take out a cd writer out of a pc if the power is turned off.. or do i have to get a guy out from sumwhere?... im fik as fuk i know :D

    Tis fine, you just need to remove the power, sound and data cables.

    If you are putting it into another pc you will need to make sure that the slave/master settings are right or it will not work.

    Do you need info on that?

    What rob said ..... its no different from changing a standard
    CD-ROM

    But one thing, is it a SCSI CD Writer or an IDE ? :D

    Does it just have a standard IDE cable (usually grey) running out the back of the CD Writer and onto a port on the motherboard ? If so then its an IDE

    If a cable comes off the CD writer and connects to an add on card then it will be a SCSI !!

    Its more than likely going to be an IDE Drive, luckily for you it will be easier to swap over ! :D
