Welcome back to The Poeticast as the Global quest for the best in Techno Artists continues and this week we land in Russia, AL.GO lays down a sublime Live mix for Episode 74.

AL.GO is Moscow based music producer Alexander Gorbinsky. His own style is described as 'Hypnotic-Minimal-Dark', in which hypnotic melancholic techno rhythms are fused with the power of psychedelic dark atmospheres. It's a combination of space sounds expressed in powerful bass lines with dark pattern overlay effects. He is always in search of the unusual combination of techno-genic beats with natural sound and a range of other different music styles. His sets are delivered via the medium of Live arrangements which makes them a truly unique sonic experience.

Welcome to Episode 85 of The Poeticast, we are in the company of the Ukrainian Alex_F this week.

Alex_F* is a Kiev (Ukraine) based music enthusiast. No, he is not a Dj either or a producer. He is a listener, as you, first of all. A listener, who began creating music on a certain moment of his music life. Novelty of tracks don`t bother him, popularity is not his goal. His main goal is to convey his thoughts and emotions through his mixes, by putting a soul into them. The themes of his mixes are very different. But techno is in priority. The mix, which is presented here, lasts 70 minutes and consists of deep, hypnotic and melancholic rhythms, which are merged with the power of dark psychedelic atmospheres.

The Guest Mix includes tracks such labels as: Aconito Records, Northern Electronics, PoleGroup, Semantica Records, Informa Records, Abdulla Rashim Records, Planete Rouge Records, Ostgut Ton, Figure, Elektrax Recordings, ESHU Records, Modularz, Attic Music, CLR, Gynoid Audio, M_REC LTD, Further Records and Stroboscopic Artefacts.

Enjoy the dark atmospheres of Alex_F*.

The Poeticast is back this week and is proud to present Yuka to the podcast with a Guest Mix of seismic proportions.

Yuka is a female DJ now based in Moscow (where she has lived since 1998), but who began her career in distant Bratsk, Siberia. The town - a local industrial center - is probably more famous for what it dumps than what it makes; in the recent past it was listed as one of the thirty most polluted cities in the world. It wouldn't take much persuasion for someone to move on... Yuka's preparation for a shift to the capital's nightclubs was lengthy, however, since music had played an important role in her life since the age of 6.

Over time, her passions moved in the direction of painting, sculpture, and design - activities she continues to this day. That initial school-day enthusiasm at the piano would eventually win out, though, and dictate her choice of higher education. Her musical training thus led to a degree from the Irkutsk Arts Institute, where she no doubt studied under her real name, Irina Solbutova.

Now that she's fully ensconced in Moscow, her music appears regularly through the outlets of three labels: Fullpanda, Pro-Tez. That latter orgniation has also created a series of podcasts in her name for free downloading. The opening broadcast came with a small text that moves swiftly from imaginative fancy to absolute fantasy. In English it reads as follows: "All musicians can be compared to bird-catchers, especially those hunters who'd go looking for songbirds. Some of them would search for a particular type: a nightingale or a lark, perhaps. Others, conversely, would hunt nothing but exotic birds. Once they were caught, the birds would be kept in cages made from sheet music or boxes cut from concert programmes."

This tendency towards the ornate and magical is a marked facet of her work. When it come to drinks, however, she's a little more straightforward.

Fabrice Lig is considered a world class producer by his peers & techno fans around the globe. He is well known for his particularly funky use of Roland's sh101 analog synth, and for his particularly emotional and personal melodies and harmonies.

There is no doubt that after more than 20 years of teaching himself production processes, complex midi programming and harmonies, Fabrice's sound is unique and very recognisable among the thousands of weekly techno releases.

Demonstrations of his skills appear on the crème de la crème of electronic music labels such as KMS (Kevin Saunderson) , Planet-e (Carl Craig), Submerge, R&S, Third Ear, 7th City Records (Dan Bell), F-Communications (Laurent Garnier) , Versatile, Classic, Compost, Subject Detroit, Motech, Raygun, Playhouse Records, Kanzleramt (Heiko Laux), 70 Drums (Ken Ishii), Clone, Trapez ltd and so on….An exceptional discography into mythic labels, into the history of electronic music.

And when Carl Craig first heard "Galactic Soul Odysseys", he instantly decided to invite Fabrice to join Planet E's prestigious family. The Poeticast welcomes Italian Techno artist Dorian Gray to the podcast for Episode 118.

Dorian Gray (aka Moreno from Italy) takes his name from the infamous Oscar Wilde character who trades his soul for an eternal life of sinful debauchery. And indeed the heady world of underground club music can sometimes feel like this! The intensity of this dark concept is expertly weaved into the deep techno sound of Dorian Gray where Moreno keeps a strong focus on meticulous ambient loops moving into hypnotic techno rhythms. Moreno’s early influences hark back to the dark electronic 80s new wave sound but there are also jazz influences which have helped him coin the descriptive term of “afro-futurist techno”. Production work aside mainly with the note label Circular Limited, Dorian has received high accolades from artists such as Edit Select & Cio D'Or and he firmly states that his first love is DJing where he continues to push forward, proving his talent through various booking across Europe, in his native Italy and trips to his home from home, Berlin.
